"We really enjoyed the band - lots of variety, fun music, traditional and also a unique sound!" - Tom S., October 2017
Steeped in the tradition of the dance bands that were the popular music of the day, Old Time Dance Band bridges the gap between the New Orleans-style jazz groups and the Big Bands that dominated the Swing Era. Heavily influenced by both but with a unique sound, Old Time Dance Band combines Dixieland and Early Swing into a unique sound that heralds the greatness of the dance hall bands that were so popular during the era of the speakeasy.
Consisting of musicians well-known in the region for their skills performing in a wide variety of styles and genres, Old Time Dance Band gives you music that is as enjoyable to listen to as it is to dance to. Whether in a concert setting or in a dance hall, the charts provide variety to the listener and dancer alike, keeping the energy level high, the audience engaged and the dancer on their toes!
Old Time Dance Band has a strong rhythm section - consisting of guitar/banjo, tuba and drums - and a balanced and talented front line - consisting of Alto Sax (doubling on clarinet), Tenor Sax (also doubling on clarinet), Trumpet and Trombone. All of our musicians are experienced performers, and many are experienced music educators as well.
